APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Register using a personal Email ID and Mobile Number.
  • Verify your Mobile Number with OTP.
  • Email ID submitted at the time of registration will be used for all correspondences until enrolment is completed. Change in Email ID will NOT be permitted under any circumstances.
  • Kindly read the eligibility criteria of your course before starting the application.
  • All fields marked with red asterisk (*) are mandatory.
  • All information must be accurate and valid for successful submission of the application form.
  • Important Note: Provide the correct Aadhaar card number. Once entered, this information cannot be used again in more applications. (One Aadhaar card, One Application only)
  • The application form fee (Rs.1100/-) is non-refundable.
  • Please remember to click 'SAVE AND EXIT' button before you leave the application form so that all the changes will be saved in the form.
  • Keep the following documents ready before filling up the application form:
    • Latest passport size photograph and scan copy of signature (preferably of max. size 2 MB in .png, .jpeg, .jpg).
    • Scanned copy of the following documents in PDF Format: Aadhar Card (both sides), Class X Marksheet, Class XII Marksheet (If Available)

      Please note that it is the responsibility of the candidate to provide accurate information with regard to academic credentials.

    • Other Documents Required in PDF Format: Social Category Other Documents Required in PDF Format: Social Category Certificate for SC/ST/OBC/OBC-A/OBC-B candidates, Baptism Certificate for Christian Candidates, Certificate of Disability (If Any), EWS Certificate for candidates applying in EWS Category.
  • Download the PDF of the completed application form and the application fee payment receipt after paying the same for future references.
Eligibility Criteria

General Guidelines for All Courses:

  • Age of the candidate should be 20 years or less (22 years or less for SC, ST or OBC) as on 1st July 2026.
  • No candidate shall be eligible for admission after a lapse of more than three years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination. The year of admission will not be taken into account while calculating 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.
  • A candidate can complete the online application procedure before the publication of the +2 level Board results.
  • The candidate will be selected provisionally for admission. Provisional selection/ admission will be based on the marks of the Xavier Law Admission Test (XLAT) 2026. However, for the confirmation of final admission, the student should have passed Plus Two (+2) examination conducted by a recognised Board/Council in India and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in the aggregate and must have, as per the passing norm of the respective Board/Council in each of the 4 subjects included in the aggregate calculation (including the compulsory subjects), failing which the selection/provisional admission of the student will be cancelled. .
  • The final Plus Two result must be submitted to the University at the time of admission (if the board result has been published) or before the commencement of the classes. Until then, the admission will remain Provisional. If a candidate is selected and/or provisionally admitted (based on the marks of Xavier Law Admission Test [XLAT] 2026) but fails to fulfil the admission criteria (as mentioned above), the candidate will not be eligible for admission, or the provisional admission (if admitted provisionally) will be cancelled. The paid fees will be refunded in accordance with the University’s rules.
  • A student must have studied and passed in English at the +2 level (excluding foreign students for whom a separate set of rules applies).
  • Aggregate is calculated from four subjects at the +2 level, including the compulsory subjects as indicated in the eligibility criteria for application and the subjects having the maximum marks from the rest of the subjects (candidates must not include a subject which is among the “subjects must not be included” list mentioned below).

  • Marks in all subjects indicated in the +2 level mark sheet must be entered in the application form (if the board result is published at the time of filling of the application), or all the subjects of the +2 level must be entered during the application procedures.
  • Students passing the GCE examination of the UK are eligible for admission only if they have completed the ‘O’ Level Examination (Minimum five passes), and completed ‘A’ Level (with minimum three passes), along with English at ‘AS’ Level. Such candidates must have completed and passed ‘A’ level examination at the time of application. However, they must fulfil all other requirements.
  • Candidates with ‘Projected Mark Sheets’ from any of the boards are not eligible.
  • International Students from outside India must provide an English Proficiency certificate (TOEFL or IELTS) at the time of admission if the medium of instruction of the last qualifying examination was not English.

The University reserves the right to reject the candidature and/or cancel the application/ admission at any stage if an applicant fails to fulfil the above conditions.

This provision is made in accordance with government guidelines. The candidate/s who opt for this category will be required to upload the EWS certificate issued by the competent authority. Without the certificate, the application will be cancelled. Candidates are requested to review the detailed government notification before applying for this category.


The University reserves the right to reject the candidature and/or cancel the application/ admission at any stage if an applicant fails to fulfil the above conditions.

Admission Test Details

I. MODE OF TEST AND OTHER DETAILS:

Internet-Based Test (IBT) with Full Remote Proctoring will be held for all courses.

The candidate will be given two options:

  1. Internet-Based Test (IBT) with Full Remote Proctoring from the candidate’s own convenient location.
  2. Internet-Based Test (IBT) with Full Remote Proctoring at St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata Campus.

The candidate must select one of the options listed above. However, the option once exercised cannot be changed or modified after the application form is submitted.

OPTION 1:
Internet-Based Test (IBT) with Full Remote Proctoring from any convenient place of the candidate’s choosing:

  • Minimum System Requirements for Internet-Based Admission TestDesktop/Laptop:[Mobile or Tablet will not be suitable]
    • Internet Browser: Google Chrome version 80 & above, with cookies & popups enabled
    • Video/Audio: Webcam min. 1.3 MP and Microphone Facility.
    • Operating system: Windows 10 and above
    • RAM & Processor: 4 GB+ RAM, i3 5th Generation 2.2 GHz or equivalent/higher
    • Pop-up blocker: Disabled
    • Uninterrupted power supply (UPS/ Inverter, etc.)
    • Dedicated Internet and Internet Bandwidth of min. 2 MBPS (4G/ Wi-Fi) or above + upload speed.

Internet Connection:

  • The candidate can appear from any convenient location. However, the University will not be liable for any technical glitches or internet connectivity issues.
  • This IBT would be remote-proctored, i.e., the candidate will be remotely invigilated via a live video and audio feed, with the candidate’s computer screen also monitored.
  • The Mic and Web Camera must remain active throughout the Test Session, and the Test Session may be recorded to maintain transparency.
  • Additional details will be provided on the Admit Card.

OPTION 2:
Internet-Based Test (IBT) with Full Remote Proctoring at St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata Campus: It will be conducted in full IBT mode, as mentioned in Option 1. Candidates who require technical support with the minimum system requirements will be facilitated to appear for the XEAT from the University Campus. There will be no technical or procedural difference between Option 1 and Option 2.

  • The candidate will be required to appear in person at the University Campus for the Test.
  • It will be on a “First Come, First Served” basis and will be provided to the first 120 students who choose this option.
  • Additional details will be provided on the Admit Card.
